Senior Minister, Bill Inglish

An Oklahoma native, Bill was called as the fourth senior minister of Disciples Christian Church in May of 2007, coming here after more than sixteen years as senior minister of First Christian in Stillwater.

Bill is a graduate of Phillips University in Enid, OK, and Phillips Theological Seminary, now in Tulsa, and earned a Doctor of Ministry from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis.

Of particular interest to Bill are progressive Christianity and the history of golf, about which he knows more than anyone should.

His wife Connie is a stewardship officer at Phillips Theological Seminary, and daughter Angela works for Opportunity International in Kampala, Uganda.

Administrative Assistant, Elaine Cowman

A native Bartian, Elaine was for 23 years general manager of the Hotel Phillips and prior to that vice president of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan. After six months of retirement, she got the itch to work part-time, and are we glad she did.

In her spare time, Elaine likes to beautify things inside and out, her passions being interior decorating and landscaping. She has two daughters, a stepson and six grandchildren, and is married to Max, who would love to sell you a Cadillac.

Music Director, Marilou Bork

Marilou and husband Jerry have literally been members of Disciples Christian Church “forever,” being charter members. Through those years, both have been heavily involved in our music program, including Marilou having taken a turn previously as director. She accepted the reins again early in 2009.

In real life Marilou is a counselor in private practice, and she and Jerry love to travel.

Community Care Minister, Brenda Pearl

Brenda is an LPN and licensed minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), meaning that she has not been to seminary but has successfully completed an intensive three-year program of study provided by the Oklahoma region of the church.

Her ministry with DCC consists primarily of calling on those hospitalized, homebound and in nursing homes. She also helps lead worship, preaches on occasion and organizes periodic worship services at Tallgrass.

Brenda has two sons and four grandchildren.

Accompanist, Brenda Lewis

Perhaps Brenda looks familiar. If so, it might be because you’ve seen her at J.C. Penney, where she has been an employee for nearly 23 years. Her main hobbies are embroidery and bowling. She started at DCC as both organist and pianist in March of 2008 and has been a welcome addition.

Nursery Attendant, Della Wilson

Della is DCC’s senior paid employee, having been on staff far longer than anyone else. In that time, she has earned the reputation for being punctual and dependable and for having an effervescent smile.

Director of Youth Ministries, Markquis Yirsa

Markquis lives in Collinsville with his wife, schoolteacher Megan, and darling daughter, Lucy Joanna, born November 0f 2008.

An OSU grad with a B.A. in psychology, he also serves the youth of First Christian in Nowata and is co-owner of World Tree Productions in Stillwater, an audio/video production company.

Markquis believes that having our youth learn and live the teachings of Jesus is the way to bring about social justice and change the world.
